J.J. College of Architecture unique course on Built Heritage Studies and Conservation

Sir J.J. College of Architecture, a globally reputed institution of Architecture, is conducting a unique course known as a Capacity Development Program in Built Heritage Studies and Conservation. This program is being offered with the joint collaboration of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS) Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Heritage Conservation Society (MMR- HCS).

You can opt for individual modules & get a participation certificate or acquire a Diploma (awarded by MMR- HCS, CSMVS & Sir J.J. College of Architecture) after successfully completing all 6 modules & appearing for a written exam.

Course Duration
Each module will include 40 hours of training sessions and will be conducted for 5 days

Eligibility Criteria
1. For individual modules: You should have a Graduate degree in any discipline or have some practical experience in architectural works.

2. For Diploma: You should have a Graduate degree, preferably in Architecture, Civil Engineering or Fine Arts. Practitioners with relevant work experience may also enroll. Your application will be screened on the basis of educational qualifications and work experience prior to granting admission to the course.

1. Approaches to Built Heritage Conservation
Dates: 19th to 23rd August 2013
Venue: Sir J.J. College of Architecture

2. Materials Conservation I
Content: Lime plaster, stucco, stone, concrete
Dates: 23rd to 27th September 2013
Venue: CSMVS Museum

3. Structural Conservation, Retrofit and Maintenance
Dates: 25th to 29th November 2013
Venue: Sir J.J. College of Architecture

4. Conservation Project Management
Dates: 20th to 24th January 2014
Venue: Sir J.J. College of Architecture

5. Materials Conservation II
Content: Timber, metals, glass, bricks, ceramic tiles, terracotta, mosaic
Dates: 18th to 22nd February 2014
Venue: CSMVS Museum

6. Urban Conservation and Enabling Environment
Dates: 17th to 21st March 2014
Venue: Sir J.J. College of Architecture
