Govt. of India National Overseas Scholarships for unfilled slots 2017-2018


The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India had called for applications last year for awarding National Overseas Scholarships for the selection year 2017-2018. The annual number of scholarships is 100. There were 183 scholarships available for 2017-2018 as the slots of 2016-2017 were carried forward. The Ministry is now inviting applications for the unfilled slots.

About the Scholarship
The National Overseas Scholarships are for pursuing higher studies at the Master’s and Ph.D. level abroad from the accredited university/institution by the authorised body of that country.

The scholarship covers the cost of fees, etc in the fields of:
  • Engineering
  • Management
  • Pure and Applied Science
  • Agricultural Science and Medicine
  • International Commerce
  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Humanities
  • Social Science
  • Fine Arts

Eligibility criteria

1. Age: You should be below 35 years as on 1st April 2017.

2. Academic qualification: You should have scored 55% or equivalent grade at the Master’s/Bachelor’s level.

3. Income: The total family income ceiling should be Rs.6 lakh per annum.

How to apply
Employed candidates should apply through the proper channel. Applications should be submitted in the prescribed application form which is available with the details of the scholarship scheme at the Ministry’s website: http://www.socialjustice.nic.in/

Last date for receipt of application is 31st March 2018 for the selection year 2017-2018. The applications submitted by this date will be periodically considered for grant of award/assurance of award.
