2016-2017 JN Tata Endowment loan scholarships for higher studies abroad

Searching for loan scholarships to pursue higher educational courses abroad? Registrations to apply for the 2016-2017 JN Tata Endowment loan scholarships for Indian students who wish to study abroad are now open. Application must be submitted 45 days prior to departure abroad.

Loan scholarship features
The amount you may receive as a loan scholarship will range between Rs. 1,50,000/- and Rs. 6,00,000/-. It is not necessary, though, that you will qualify for the maximum amount. 

The scholarship is at a simple interest of 2% per annum. However, if you repay the loan within the specified time period (between the end of the 4th and the 7th year), then the interest may be waived by the Trustees.

If selected for the loan scholarship, you may additionally qualify for a Gift Scholarship and travel assistance from allied Trusts. The Gift Scholarship can be for a maximum amount of Rs. 10,00,000/- and the travel grant can be a maximum of Rs. 50,000/-. 

Eligibility requirements
1. You must be an Indian national below 45 years of age.

2. You should have a Graduate degree from a recognised Indian university. If you are in your final year of graduation or awaiting results, then also you can apply.

3. You should have secured admission or awaiting admission to pursue Master's / PhD / Post-doctoral fellowships / Research fellowships. 

How to apply
1. Download the application form form the official website.

2. Fill up the application form offline [there is no online application mode].

3. Submit your completed application via email only to: jnte@tatatrusts.org. It should be sent via the same email-id which is mentioned in your application form, along with a scanned copy of the letter of recommendation (LOR). The LOR should be of a Professor of the College or University or the Employer, in case you are working. It must be (i) addressed to the Trustees of the J N Tata Endowment (ii) on the respective letterhead with (iii) full address, telephone numbers and mobile numbers or from the official email address.

You also need to submit a soft copy of a statement of purpose (SOP) of not more than 800 words along with your application. For guidelines on SOP read this useful resource: How to write a good SOP.

Note: Do not send your application by post. 

3. All scanned copies of the requisite documents should be submitted at the time of the interview. The interviews will start from March onwards. 

Last date of receipt of application: You application form should be submitted at least 45 days before you depart overseas. For example, if you are scheduled to leave on 15th September 2016, then your application should be submitted by 31st July 2016.
