E.K. Janaki Ammal National Award for Taxonomy 2020 nominations invited

Botanical Survey of India (BSI), which is under the aegis of the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Govt. of India invites nominations for the E.K. Janaki Ammal National Award for Taxonomy 2020. Initially, the award was a single one covering Botany, Zoology and the study of Micro-organisms. There will now be three awards, one each for outstanding contributions in Plant, Animal and Microbial Taxonomy. Previous awardees are not eligible for these awards.

The award comes with a cash prize of Rs. 5,00,000/- along with a citation, scroll and a Medallion.

Last date for receiving nominations:28th February 2021

Who can be nominated

The nominee should be an Indian taxonomist engaged in Taxonomic research work on flora, fauna or microorganisms in India. Other eligibility criteria includes outstanding experimental work in the relevant fields, research experience, experience in guiding M.Phil. and Ph.D. students for their theses, research publications and contributions to workshops and symposia at the national and international level, etc.

How to submit nominations

University Vice-Chancellors, Heads of Institutions, and previous awardees can submit nominations. Self-applications or through institutions are also permitted.

Two sets each of the nomination have to be submitted in the prescribed format and sent in a registered sealed envelope, marked "E. K. Janaki Ammal National Award on Taxonomy for the year 2020" to -
