Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas Class IX and XI vacant seats lateral entry admissions 2025-26

The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), which is under the aegis of the Ministry Of Education, Department of School Education & Literacy, Govt. of India has released an admission notification inviting eligible students to apply for admission to Class IX and Class XI in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) against the vacant seats through the Lateral Entry Test (LEST) for the academic session 2025-26. The closing date to apply is 30th October 2024.

Salient Features of JNVs

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) are co-educational fully residential schools from Class VI to Class XII. These schools provide quality education to children predominantly from rural areas. All the JNVs are affiliated with CBSE and each year students have consistently delivered good results in the Board exams. The school campus has separate hostels for boys and girls and offers sports and co-curricular activities. NCC, NSS, etc are also part of the educational environment. The education is free and includes boarding and lodging, school uniforms, the relevant textbooks and stationery, etc.

Highlights: As per the NVS stats, the result in the 2023-24 Class X and Class XII Board exams- 99.09% in the Class X exam, and 98.90% in the Class XII exam. In the JEE MAIN-2024, 36.05% of students qualified, while in the JEE Advanced-2024 34.64% of students qualified. In NEET-2024, 80.770% of students qualified. What’s more, more than two dozen NVS alumni are selected through the UPSC exam each year.

Eligibility Criteria for JNV Class IX 2025 Admissions

Age Criterion: The applicant should be born between 1st May 2010 and 31st July 2012 (both days inclusive). This applies to all categories, including students who apply in the categories of SC, ST, and OBC

Educational Qualification: The applicant should be a student of Class VIII in the academic session 2024-2025 in a Government school or a Government-recognized school in the same district where the JNV to which she/he seeks admission is functioning.

Eligibility Criteria for JNV Class XI 2025 Admissions

Age Criterion: The student’s date of birth should be between 1st June 2008 and 31st July 2010, both days inclusive. This age criterion applies to everyone, with no age relaxation for SC and ST students.

Educational Qualification: The applicant should have studied in and passed the Class X exam during the academic session 2024-2025 (April 2024 to March 2025 academic session)/2024 (January to December 2024 academic session) from a Government school or Government-recognized school of the District where the JNV is functioning. Note that if the district of Class X study and residence are the same, then only will the applicant be considered for District-level merit.

Selection Test

For Class IX Admission: The test is an OMR-based one with objective-type questions in Hindi, English, Maths, and Science. The question paper will be available in English and Hindi.

For Class XI Admission: The test is an OMR-based one with objective-type questions in Mental Ability, English, Maths, Science, and Social Science. The question paper will be available in English and Hindi.

Important Dates

The last date to submit applications for both, Class IX and Class XI admissions is 30th October 2024.

The Lateral Entry Test (LEST) is scheduled for 8th February 2025.
