2013 University of Cambridge Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarships

Every year, the Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarships are offered to those who have an outstanding academic record to pursue their doctoral degrees in Science & Technology (especially Aerospace Engineering and Energy Studies), Economics and Social Sciences from the world renowned University of Cambridge, UK at St. John's College. Applications are open for the 2013 Dr. Manmohan Singh Scholarships. Last date for submitting your application is December 31st 2012.

Features of 2013 Dr. Manmohan Singh Scholarships to the University of Cambridge
The scholarship will cover:
  • Your academic fees
  • Your international airfare
  • An allowance for monthly living expenses
  • Your UK visa
 Eligibility Requirements
  • You should be an Indian national, based in India currently, and must have a valid Indian passport
  • Your age should be below 35 years as of 31st December 2012
  • You should not have had significant exposure to UK education or received UK Govt. funding
  • You must have a Post Graduate degree from a recognised  Indian instite with a 1st Class award (both Undergraduate and Post Graduate) in the relevant field
  • You should have some evidence of leadership qualities 
  • You must have identified a full-time doctoral research degree from the University of Cambridge commencing September/October 2013
  • You must be fluent in both written & spoken English
  • You should be able to fulfil any other admission criteria laid down by the university
  • Identify a suitable doctoral programme and supervisor at the University of Cambridge.
  • You must visit the website of Board of Graduate Studies (BoGS) to make an application to the University at the same time as applying for the scholship.
  • You must select St John’s College as your 1st choice College on your BoGs application form.
  • In your BoGs application, you must also indicate that you are applying for the Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarship + complete the section applying for funding from the University. 
Important Notes: (1) Only if you get an offer of admission at St John’s College then you will be eligible for the award of the Scholarship. (2) You must not approach St John’s College directly at this stage.

Selection Process: Candidates are short listed by the British Council. Subsequently, there will be a personal interview to be be held in New Delhi in April 2013 (you have to make your own travel and accommodation arrangements). The selection committee will then decided on which candidates will be awarded the scholarship. Those who are selected for the award of the scholarship will be informed within a month of the interview process.

Once selected, the British Council will coordinate the UK visa and travel arrangements & a briefing prior to departure.
