KVPY Govt of India Fellowships 2016 for basic sciences courses and research
The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India is inviting applications from eligible students for the Kishore
Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Fellowship Awards 2016. Last date to
apply is 30th August 2016.
Who can apply
The KVPY Fellowship Award 2016 is for Indian nationals only, for students studying in the first year program in basic science course such as B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int.M.Sc./Int.M.S. You will be selected based on your academic performance and skills to take up a research career in Basic Sciences.

Fellowship amount
The Fellowships are Rs.5000/- to Rs.7000/- per month. Contingency grants are also offered, equivalent to 4 months fellowship per annum.

Eligibility requirements
1. For Stream SA:
You should be in Std. XI (science subjects) for the academic year 2016-17 and have got minimum 80% marks (70% for SC/ST and PWD students) in aggregate in mathematics and science subjects i.e. physics/chemistry/biology in the Std.10 Board exam. The fellowship will be activated only if you join an undergraduate course in basic science in the academic year 2018-2019 after getting min.60% marks (50% for SC/ST and PWD students) in aggregate in science subjects in Std.12 exam. During the interim period of 1 year, you will be invited for the National Science camp & your travel-related and other expenses will be borne by KVPY.

2. For Stream SX:
You should be in Std. XII (science subjects) for the academic year 2016-17 and have got minimum 80%
marks (70% in case of SC/ST and PWD students) in aggregate in mathematics
and science subjects in Std.10 Board exam. You should be aspiring to get admission to an undergraduate program in basic sciences in the upcoming academic session 2017-18. You should get minimum 60% marks (50% in case of SC/ST and PWD students) in aggregate in mathematics & science subjects in your Std.12 Board exam to avail of the Fellowship award.
3. For Stream SB:
You should be enrolled in the first year of enrolled in the 1st year of an undergraduate program in sciences during the academic year 2016-17, after having secured
60% marks (50% in case of SC/ST and PWD students) in aggregate in science subjects in your Std.12 Board exam and in the 1st year of your course.
How to apply
Submit your application online, indicating the stream, namely SA,SX or SB. The payment of application fee is to be done online. The fee is Rs.1000/- for general category students and Rs.500/-for those belonging to SC/ST and PWD students.
Last date to submit online application: 30th August 2016.
Selection process
There will be a computer based online version of the Aptitude Test will be conducted online at various centres selected cities. The test will be conducted on Sunday 6th November 2016.
