Extension in last date to apply for Government of India KVPY Fellowship 2020

Would you like to get admission to a Fellowship-based course in Basic Sciences at an educational institute in India? The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India has extended the last date to apply for the 2020 Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Fellowships. This year, there will be no interviews and the Fellowship will be awarded based solely on the Aptitude Test.

Important Dates

Online application started on 6th September 2020.

The last date to submit the online application has been extended to 30th October 2020.

The KVPY Aptitude Test is scheduled for 31st January 2021 (Sunday) at various centers across India.

Eligibility requirements for KVPY Fellowship 2020

For Stream SA

You should be enrolled in Class XI with Science subjects during the academic year 2020-2021 and are keen to take admission to an undergraduate program in Basic Sciences, such as B.Sc., B.S., B.Stat., B.Math, Int. M.Sc. or Int. M.S. during the academic year 2022-2023. 

On joining the undergraduate course in Basic Sciences for the academic year 2022-2023 after having obtained a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in Science subjects in the Class XII Board exam (50% for SC/ST/PWD students), then the Fellowship will get activated. During the interim period of one year, you will be required to attend the National Science (Vijyoshi) Camp, for which travel expenses and local hospitality will be met by KVPY.

For Stream SX

You should be enrolled in +2/XII standard with science subjects during the academic year 2020-2021. You should be keen on pursuing an undergraduate program in Basic Sciences, such as B.Sc., B.S., B.Stat., B.Math, Int. M.Sc. or Int. M.S. during the academic year 2021-2022.

You should have obtained a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate in maths and science subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in the Class X Board Exam (65% for SC/ST/PWD) and a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in maths and science subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in the Class XII Board Exam (50% for SC/ST/PWD).

The fellowship will get activated once you join the undergraduate course in Basic science in the academic year 2021-22 after getting a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Science subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in the Class XII Board exam.

For Stream SB

You should be enrolled in the First Year of a program in Basic Sciences, such as B.Sc., B.S., B.Stat., B.Math, Int. M.Sc. or Int. M.S. during the academic year 2020-2021.

You should have scored a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in maths and science subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in the Class XII Board Exam. In the first year final examination of B.Sc./B.S./B.Math./B.Stat./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. you must have scored at least 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks before taking up the fellowship.

Check the official website to know the documents that are required to be uploaded during the online application process. These documents are:
(i) For SC and ST students - a caste certificate issued and duly signed by the competent authority (GOI) in the prescribed proforma.


(ii) For 
physically and visually challenged students - a medical certificate from the prescribed authority (GOI), certifying the percentage of disability.

(iii) Scanned photo and signature of the applicant.
