The University of Sydney Scholarship Program of $500,000 for Indian international students
Are you searching for a scholarship for Indian international students to study abroad in Australia? The University of Sydney is offering $500,000 worth of scholarships for Indian students who will be starting their UG or PG program at the university, to be awarded in 2021. The Sydney Scholars India Scholarship Program is available for 28 international students who are citizens and current residents of India, and have received an unconditional offer of admission to an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree from the University of Sydney.
Who can apply for Sydney Scholars India Scholarship Program
The Scholarship is open to all Indian students who are citizens and currently residing in India, and are enrolled full time in an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree but have not yet commenced the coursework of the program. Those who have started a second degree at the University of Sydney are also eligible to apply, on condition they have not previously held the Sydney Scholars India Scholarship.
Those who are permanent residents of Australia, or have previously held a University of Sydney India Scholarship, are not eligible to apply.
What is offered with the
Subject to the availability of funds, the scholarships are as follows-
- Three scholarships of $40,000 per annum for any undergraduate degree of up to four years.
- 10 first-year scholarships of $20,000 for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- 15 first-year scholarships of $10,000 for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Note: The payment will be made to the student after the census date of each semester, and deferral or suspension of the Scholarship is not permitted.
How to apply for the Sydney Scholars India Scholarship Program
You simply have to register your interest to receive an alert notification when the applications will be opened. You will need to provide proof of residency of India. It is advisable to read the terms and conditions, including reasons why the scholarship may be terminated, before applying for it.

How students are selected
In addition to academic merit and other information that is given in the application, the personal statement will be assessed as well, by members of a selection committee who will then propose nominees for the scholarship. If you are selected, you are required to complete the "Acceptance of their Unconditional Admission Offer" by the scheduled deadline associated with the scholarship offer round, otherwise you will not get the scholarship. You
also must remain enrolled at the University of Sydney after the census date.
As a recipient of the scholarship, you may be invited to promote the undergraduate/postgraduate program in which you are enrolled, as well as represent the University of Sydney at various events. Expenses towards representing the University of Sydney at these events will be met by the university.
Ongoing eligibility
In order to continue to be a recipient of the scholarship, you are
required to maintain a minimum semester average mark (SAM) of 65 and should not have any outstanding fees. In case you are undertaking an exchange during the tenure of this scholarship, you must meet the Satisfied Requirements grade (SR) to receive the
next payment. The scholarship is transferable to another major, degree or faculty, but is not transferrable to another University.
