BIRAC SPARSH Social Innovation Tech Fellowships in Agritech at Pune 2021

Looking for Govt. Fellowships with a high stipend in the field of agriculture in Maharashtra? Venture Center, Pune, Maharashtra invites applications from Indian citizens for Social Innovation Tech Fellowships in Agritech under the Social Innovation Immersion Program (SIIP) of BIRAC's SPARSH. BIRAC is the acronym for Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council which is under the aegis of DBT, Govt. of India. Venture Center, Pune is one of the 14 centers in India identified by BIRAC for this program.

About the Fellowship

Since the theme for the Fellowship focuses on Agritech., some of the possible fields of work will be on analyzing soil with software solutions, developing diagnostic kits to analyze the health of plants, finding solutions to minimize losses of post-harvest, creating sensors for agri-parameters like moisture and plant nutrients, etc Basically, the Venture Center is looking for innovative technological ideas that will provide effective solutions to problems in the field of agriculture. Selected Fellows will be given access to the state-of-the-art facilities of the center and qualified mentors will provide the necessary training and guidance. 

The duration of the Fellowship is 18 months, with no extensions and selected Fellows will be given a monthly stipend of Rs 50,000/-. A mini Grant of Rs. 5 lakhs will also be offered to kick start your venture in the associated field.

Eligibility requirements

1. Age criteria: below 35 years.

2. Academic Qualification: You should be either an undergraduate (B.Tech. or B.E. or M.B.B.S.) or a postgraduate (M.Sc. or MS or M.Tech. or M.Phile. or MD)/Ph.D. from a recognized institute in India from the fields of life sciences, agriculture, engineering, medicine, and human biology.

3. General criteria: You should have a basic understanding of the context of the particular theme in different resource settings, and have an independent drive to undertake the product/technology development process. It is desirable to have training in the past on various aspects of entrepreneurship, but this is not mandatory as the requisite training will be provided to selected Fellows.
