Indian Council of Historical Research Post Doctoral Fellowships in History and Allied Subjects 2024-25
The Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR), an autonomous organization under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, has announced Post Doctoral Fellowships for the year 2024-25. The Fellowships are for research work in History or its allied subjects. The selected candidates should be focusing wholly on the research work and are not permitted to take up part-time or full-time work.

Fellowship
Duration: 2 years
Fellowship
Award: A fellowship of Rs.30800/- per month and a contingency grant of
Rs.22000/ per annum.
Work
permission: While you are not permitted to take up part-time or full-time work
for the duration of the Post Doctoral Fellowship, you are allowed to continue
with previous employment if you take leave during the period of Fellowship, and
you can accept a part-time Honorary or partially-paid teaching or research
assignment with the permission of the Research Projects Committee.
Selection
Process: Through a presentation-cum-interview session.
Appraisal: It
is mandatory to submit progress reports of the research work on a
6-monthly and/or annual basis as required. Your research work will be reviewed
at the end of one year wherein through a presentation before a panel of
experts. In case the research work is found to be unsatisfactory, the
Fellowship may be discontinued, and the amount of Fellowship granted will be
recovered.
Publication
of the Research Work: Once the research work is published, it is mandatory to
give due acknowledgement to the Fellowship of the ICHR.

Requirements
- You should have a Ph.D. or have done equivalent research work of merit in History or its allied subjects.
- You should be keen to work on approved research themes at recognized research institutions or universities under the guidance of a senior Scholar.
- You should be affiliated with a reputed university or a research institute.

Fee
The
non-refundable application fee of Rs. 600/- should be paid in the form of a
Demand Draft drawn in favour of the DDO, ICHR, payable at Delhi. Applicants in
SC/ST/Persons with Disability (PwD) categories do not have to pay any
application fee.

- Five copies of the detailed synopsis of the proposed research topic
- Self-attested copies of requisite certificates of educational qualifications
- Self-attested copies of relevant documents, such as date of birth, research experience, etc
- A signed copy of the checklist

providing the research proposal details for the Fellowship, you should do
so in the following format-
- Statement of the problem
- State of knowledge in the field
- Review of other related works done on the subject
- Research Questions
- Research Objectives
- Research Methodology
- A tentative chapter design
- Bibliographical note with a list of primary sources to be consulted
- Knowledge of the language (s) of the sources
Selection
Process
You have to
make a presentation to the members of the Selection Committee on the proposed
subject of research. This will be followed by an interview at the ICHR office
in offline or online mode, the date and venue of which will be indicated on the
official website.
