Bombay Natural History Society insect entomology course

The Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) is offering a basic program in insect entomology called Basic Course in Entomology (BCE 100). It is a revised online course of the previous correspondence course conducted by BNHS. This course is ideal for postgraduate students who wish to undertake wildlife research or for those who wish to develop an expertise in insect studies.

  • Butterflies and moths
  • Grasshoppers and crickets
  • Cockroaches
  • Praying mantis
  • Stick insects
  • Leaf insects
  • Wasps
  • Bees
  • Ants
  • Bugs and beetles
  • Termites
  • Dragonflies and damselflies
  • Miscellaneous insect groups
Course duration: June 2013 to May 2014, with weekly assignments from Tuesday to Saturday. A monthly field trip will be organized on a Sunday. An overnight camp will be Friday-Sunday if organized.
Fees: Rs.6,990/-. The fees include local field trips, visits to collection  departments and an overnight inaugural & concluding camp at Conservation Education Center (CEC) Mumbai, Maharashtra
Discounted fee for BNHS members, undergraduates &  senior citizens: Rs.6,290/-.
Group size: 15 students minimum
