TISS Bachelors Admission Test 2015

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences has announced its computer based Bachelors Admission Test (BAT 2015) for admissions into its B.A. Social Sciences program as part of a 5 year Integrated admission to B.A. & M.A. in Social Sciences offered from its various campuses in India.

About BAT-2015
The computer based test is to gain admission to:
1. B.A. Social Sciences (2015-2018) offered at TISS Guwahati, TISS Tuljapur and TISS Hyderabad campuses.

2. B.A. (Hons.) in Social Work (2015-2018) offered at TISS Tuljapur campus.

B.A. Social Sciences program (2015-2018)
Duration: 3 years (6 semesters)

Number of seats available at each of the 3 campuses: 60 (reservations as per Govt. of India requirements).

The course is a UG program combining the humanistic aspects of Social Sciences with logical reasoning of the natural sciences. Creativity & critical thinking will be developed through this course. The course includes:
  • Mathematics
  • Foundational courses in biological, physical and chemical sciences
  • Languages
  • Philosophy of research & research methodology
  • Logic and History
Once you successfully complete the 3 year program, you will be awarded a B.A. Social Sciences degree. You then have the option to further pursue your Masters program at the same campus or at any other TISS campus too. In case you are pursuing the M.A. at the same campus, you do not have to appear for the entrance test which will be the case if pursuing it at another TISS campus.

Eligibility Criteria
1. You should have passed 12th Standard or Intermediate in any subject stream from a recognized Board. Those awaiting the 12th or Intermediate results can also apply. If selected, final pass result should be produced at the time of joining.
2. Age: You should be less than 23 years of age while appearing for the TISS-BAT 2015 exam on 10th May, 2015.

B.A. (Hons.) Social Work program (2015-2018)
Duration: 3 years (6 semesters)

Number of seats: 60 (reservations as per Govt. of India requirements).

The course is a UG program which aims to develop the student’s skills and talents requisite for the rural development sector. Some of the program modules are:
  • Sociological and anthropological concepts
  • History
  • Political Science
  • Languages
  • Communication & analytical skills
  • Rural economy
  • Agriculture & allied activities
  • Health policies and programs
  • Human Rights, Law and Social Work
  • Research methods
  • Field work and seminars
Once you successfully complete the 3 year program, you will be awarded a BA (Hons.) in Social Work with specialisation in Rural Development degree. You can then opt to pursue a Master's Programme at Tuljapur or any other campus, for which you will need to appear for the TISS National Entrance Test.
