NIOS Vocational Courses Block II Admissions 2024 open
The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), an autonomous institution under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, has issued the admission notification for vocational courses in Block-II. Limited seats will be issued on a first-come-first-served basis, with online admissions closing on 31st December 2024. NIOS is the awarding body (dual category) for assessment and certification from the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), MSDE, Govt. of India.
NIOS Vocational Courses Features
The vocational courses offered by NIOS are skill-based courses for employment and entrepreneurship in various vocational education sectors and have reasonable fees. You can opt for short-term courses of six months, pursue one-year certificate and diploma courses, or take up two-year advanced certificate and diploma courses. The courses are integrated with academic subjects, and self-learning material is provided. Some of the prominent features are-
- There is no upper age limit, with the minimum age criterion depending on the course
- Admission to the course is valid for five years
- You have nine chances to appear in the exam over five years.
- You can choose the study centre
- Personal Contact Programs (PCPs) are scheduled
- Practical training and audio-video programs are offered
Types of NIOS Vocational Courses
Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Courses: Plant Protection, Paddy Farming, Beekeeping, Mushroom production, Poultry farming, Vermicomposting, Soil and Fertilizer Management.
Business and Commerce Courses: Typewriting (English, Hindi, and Urdu certificate courses), Stenography (both English and Hindi courses), E-typewriting (both English and Hindi courses), Certificate and Diploma Courses in Secretarial Practices, Diploma in Insurance Services, etc.
Computer and ICT Courses: Basic Computing, Desktop Publishing, Web Designing and Development, Computer and Office Applications, Data Entry Operations.
Engineering and Technology Courses: House Wiring and Electrical Appliances Repairing, T.V. Repairing, Drinking Water Purifier Technician, Carpentry, Solar Energy Technician, Furniture and Cabinet-Making, Electrical technician, Welding Technology, Radio and T.V. Technician, Construction Supervision (Civil).
Hospitality Courses with ITDC: Diploma Courses in Food Production Management, Food and Beverage Operations, Housekeeping and Maintenance, Front Office Operation, Bakery and Confectionery Production.
Home Science and Hospitality Courses: Beauty Culture and Hair Care, Beauty Therapy, Dress Making, Cutting and Tailoring, Dress Designing, Indian Embroidery, Ladies Wear, Children's Wear, Laundry Services, Bakery and Confectionery, Housekeeping.
Health and Paramedical Courses: Ayurveda Assistant, Panchkarma Assistant, Care of the Elderly, Community Health, Homeopathy Dispensing, Ayurvedic Therapy, Radiography, Medical Imaging Technology, Medical Lab Technology. Note that for these healthcare and paramedical courses, recognition by State councils depends on the rules and regulations of the particular State.
Yoga and Naturopathy Courses: Certificate in Yoga, Certificate in Yoga Assistant, Yoga Teachers Training Program, Diploma in Yogic Science, Diploma in Naturopathy & Yogic Science.
Teacher Training Courses: Early Childhood Care and Education, Toy-making and Joyful Learning.
Miscellaneous Courses: Library Science, Security Services, Fire Prevention and Industrial Safety, Diamond Grader and Assorter, Hardware Assembly and Maintenance, Basic Rural Technology.
Application Procedure
Applications should be submitted online at the NIOS Registration Website
Select the sector, browse through the list of courses available for that sector, click on the 'Proceed' button for the course you are interested in, and then fill in the registration form that appears on the screen. You can also visit the nearest NIOS-Accredited Vocational Institute (AVI) where the staff will assist in the registration process. The admission prospectus also has a list of Regional Centres of NIOS, and the Common Services Centres (CSCs) of the Ministry of Information and Technology, Govt. of India where you can get assistance for registration.
Keep ready the required documents to upload, including a valid ID, photograph, age proof, proof of residence, relevant marksheets, etc.
The closing date for admission to NIOS Vocational Courses Block-II is 31st December 2024.
