IIM Mumbai MBA, Ph.D. and PGDEx VLFM programs - 2025 Admissions Open

Last month, the Indian Institute of Management, Mumbai (IIM Mumbai) which was earlier known by the name of NITIE (National Institute of Industrial Engineering) released the admission notification for its MBA and Ph.D. programs. Interested students can submit their online applications for admission up to 31st January 2024. This prestigious institution has achieved the #6 rank in the management category by NIRF 2024.

IIM Mumbai MBA program

Duration: The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a two-year full-time residential post-graduate degree course.

Eligibility criteria: Bachelor's Degree with min. 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (a min. of 45% is acceptable for SC, ST, and PwD candidates) from a recognized university or educational institution. You are welcome to apply if you are in the final year of the degree program, provided you have the required minimum marks in all the exams to date, have completed the viva voce and required exams by the time of joining the Institute, and will need to appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT-2024) conducted by the IIMs to apply for the program.

Fee Structure: INR21 Lakhs. This includes the Tuition fee of INR14 Lakhs and the Caution Money Deposit of INR50,000/- (this deposit will be refunded upon graduating from the Institute or adjusted against the outstanding dues). Note that you have to pay separately for the Mess charges and Mess deposits.

IIM Mumbai MBA Operations and Supply Chain Management Program

Duration: The MBA (Operations & Supply Chain Management) is a full-time residential degree program of two years.

Eligibility criteria: Full-time Engineering/Technology Degree in any branch from a recognized university or educational institution, and scored an aggregate 50% marks in the qualifying exam (a min. of 45% for SC/ST/PwD candidates). A full-time degree from a recognized university in any of these disciplines is also acceptable- M.Sc. Maths or M.Sc. Statistics or a Dual Degree (Maths and Computing) that is a min. 5-year program or a BS./B. Tech (Economics) which is a minimum 4-year program, with an aggregate of 50% marks (a min. of 45% for SC/ST/PwD candidates) in the qualifying exam. Students who are in the final year of the degree program can also apply, provided they have the required minimum marks in all the exams to date, have completed the viva voce and required exams by the time of joining the Institute, and will need to appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT-2024) conducted by the IIMs to apply for the program.

IIM Mumbai MBA Sustainability Management Program

Duration: The MBA (Sustainability Management) is a full-time two-year postgraduate residential degree programme

Eligibility criteria: A Bachelor's Degree, with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (min. 45% in case of SC, ST, and PwD candidates) from a recognized university or educational institution. Students who are in the final year of the degree program can also apply, provided they have the required minimum marks in all the exams to date, have completed the viva voce and required exams by the time of joining the Institute, and will need to appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT-2024) conducted by the IIMs to apply for the program.

IIM Ph.D. Programs

Doctoral programs are offered in these fields- Analytics & Data Science; Economics & Strategy; Finance; Marketing; Operations & Supply chain Management; Organisational Behaviour & HRM; and Sustainability Management.

Eligibility criterion for Regular Ph.D.: A two-year Post Graduate Diploma which has been obtained after completing a bachelor's degree with 55% marks or equivalent or a five-year Integrated master’s degree in any field which has been obtained after completing higher secondary school in the 10+2 pattern with 55% marks or equivalent. Also accepted is a professional qualification such as CA, CS, or CMA (with a minimum of 50% marks) in addition to a bachelor's degree (with at least 55% marks). Students with a four-year/eight-semester bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 65% marks or its equivalent can also apply.

Eligibility criterion for an Executive Ph.D.: A one-year/two-semester Master's degree full-time program with at least 60% marks in aggregate after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor's degree full-time program or a 2-year/4-semester Master's degree full-time program with at least 60% marks after a 3-year bachelor's degree full-time program with at least 60% marks or its equivalent grade. Candidates applying based on a Master’s degree programme should have at least 2 years of professional experience after acquiring the master’s degree. Refer to the official brochure to know of other acceptable qualifications.

Stipend: A monthly stipend of INR 37,000 will be given for Junior Research Fellows (JRF) (Ph.D. students with two years or less of research) and INR 42,000 for Senior Research Fellows (SRF) (Ph.D. students with more than two years of research).

IIM Mumbai PGDEx–VLFM Program
Duration: The PGDEx–VLFM (Visionary Leaders For Manufacturing) Program is a one-year full-time residential executive diploma program jointly conducted by IIM Mumbai and IIT Delhi. Seats are available for sponsored candidates from reputed organizations across the globe.

Eligibility criterion: A recognized first-class full-time bachelor's degree in technological (B.E. or B.Tech.) discipline + at least four years (and less than 10 years) full-time industrial experience across domains such as manufacturing, operations, and consulting, as of the last date of submission of applications.

The application fee for Indian applicants is INR2500/- and for Foreign Applicants is $100 /-. Refer to the official website to know the fee structure for the IIM Mumbai segment and the IIT Delhi segment of the program.

  • Closing date to submit application for all programs: 31st January 2025.
  • Setting up of the cut-off/Screening/Selection: 7th February 2025.
  • Dispatch of PI call letter: 14th February 2025.
  • PI dates at Mumbai campus for all courses: March-April 2025 (specific dates will be announced later)
  • PI dates at other centres: March-April 2025 (specific dates will be announced later)
