IISER online admissions 2025 - BS-MS dual Degree, BS Degree, B.Tech. Degree Eligibility, Scholarship, Schedule

The applications for admission to the 5-year BS-MS Dual degree program, the 4-year BS degree program, and the B.Tech. degree program to the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) for 20025 will open on 10th March 2025. 

Admissions to all the IISERs will be done centrally through a common application process and all students can get admission through the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2025. This is an exciting opportunity for young students keen to pursue a science career!

  • 5-year BS-MS Dual Degree program at all IISERs
  • 5-year BS-MS Dual Degree program in Computational and Data Sciences at IISER Kolkata only
  • 4-year BS program in Economic Sciences at IISER Bhopal only
  • 4-year B.Tech. program at IISER Bhopal only
  • 4-year BS program in Economic and Statistical Sciences at IISER Tirupati only

Eligibility Requirements

1. Nationality: Applicants must be Indian nationals, OCI/PIO/Foreign Nationals to apply for IAT 2025.

2. Educational Qualification: You should have passed the Class 12 exam or an equivalent exam in the science stream in 20023, 2024 or 2025 with a minimum of 60% marks (for SC, ST and PwD students, it should be a minimum of 55% marks)

Subject requirement at Class 12 level: You should have taken at least three subjects among Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics during the Class XII (or equivalent) exam. For admissions to B. Tech. at IISER Bhopal, BS (Economic Sciences) at IISER Bhopal, BS (Economic and Statistical Sciences) at IISER Tirupati and BS-MS (Computational and Data Sciences) at IISER Kolkata, having Mathematics in Class 12 (or equivalent) is mandatory.

3. Aptitude Test: You must appear for the IISER Aptitude Test (IAST)-2025 to be eligible for admission to any of the IISERs

Scholarships

Students who get admission may be eligible for competitive INSPIRE scholarships as per the norms of the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India

Application Procedure

1. Before you apply, go through the instructions and FAQ section and then submit your application online at the IISER Admissions Portal 

2. Pay the online application fee (non-refundable) of Rs. 2000/-. The application fee is Rs.1000/- for SC/ST/Kashmiri migrant/Kashmiri Pandits/Kashmiri Hindu Families (non-migrant)/PwD candidates. Candidates applying under the Foreign National category have to pay an application fee of Rs. 12000/-.

IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) Format

The IISER Aptitude Test is a computer-based one of 180 minutes with Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) which will be conducted in various centres across India. There are 60 questions in the subjects of-

  • Biology - 15 questions
  • Chemistry - 15 questions
  • Mathematics - 15 questions
  • Physics - 15 questions

Marking system: Four marks for a correct answer, with a deduction of one mark for an incorrect answer, and a zero for an unanswered question. Total = 240 marks.

Ranking system: The rank cut-off will be announced later, but note that getting a rank does not guarantee securing an offer letter/admission to an IISER.

Procedure after Admission Offer

Once you get an offer of admission, you have to pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF). This fee will be adjusted against the first-semester fee once you are registered at an IISER. The SAF fee is as follows-

  • For General/EWS/OBC/OBC-NCL/PwD/KM/Kashmiri Pandit/Kashmiri Hindu Families (Non-Migrants: Rs. 35,000/-
  • For SC/ST candidates: Rs. 17,500/- 

Important note: If you fail to deposit the SAF within the given time, your offer of admission will be cancelled, and you will not be considered in any subsequent rounds of seat allotment during admission 2025. Please check the official website for the refund policy of SAF.

Important Dates

  • Online applications will open on 10th March 2025
  • The last date to submit online applications is 15th April 2025
  • Corrections in the application form can be made from 21st to 22nd April 2025
  • Hall Tickets will be released on 15th May 2025
  • The IISER Aptitude Test is scheduled for 25th May 2025 at 9 a.m.
  • The answer key will be displayed on the official website on 25th May 2025 after the test is over
  • The last date to upload the requisite documents is 16th June 2025
