Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi Ab-initio to Commercial Pilot License Course Admissions July 2026 and January 2027 batches

Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi (IGRUA), an autonomous body under the aegis of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, invites applications for the Ab-initio to Commercial Pilot License Course. IGRUA also offers pilot aspirants a B.Sc. Aviation degree along with their CPL training, which is for three years' duration exclusively for CPL trainees at IGRUA.

IGRUA Ab-initio to Commercial Pilot License Course

'Ab-initio' means from the beginning, indicating that this Ab-initio to Commercial Pilot License (CPL) Course is for those with no flying experience and you start learning from scratch. The course is with Multi-Engine Endorsement and Instrument Rating (IR) on Multi-Engine Aircraft.

Number of seats: 125

Duration: Approximately 36 months

Commencement of course: July 2026 (first batch) and January 2027 (second batch)

Eligibility Requirements:

(i) Age: You should be at least 17 years of age at the time of joining the course and a maximum of 28 years as of 1st January 2026 (max 31 years for OBC candidates and max 33 years for SC/ST candidates).

(ii) Marital status: Single/Unmarried

(iii) Academic qualification: You should have passed 10+2 or equivalent with English, Mathematics and Physics with minimum 50% marks in individual subjects [minimum 45% marks at 10+2 or equivalent in individual subjects for SC/ST/EWS/OBC Candidates (Non-Creamy Layer]

Course Fee

Training Fee: Rs.55,00,000/- (payable in four quarterly installments over the first year). Refer to the official website to know additional costs for hostel, messing, etc.

Selection Process

You have to appear for the online computer-based entrance test, schedule for 3rd May 2026 (Sunday) at allotted centres. You can download the Admit Card on or after 23rd April 2026 (Thursday). If you pass the written test, then you are required to attend the interview/VIVA, the schedule of which will be declared on 18th May 2026. The interview, VIVA and Pilot Aptitude/Psychometric test will be held from 1st June 2026 onward.

1. For General, OBC and EWS candidates: Rs. 15,000/-

2. For SC & ST candidates: Fee is waived

• Online written test date: 3rd May 2026
• Interview/ Viva & Pilot Aptitude Test starts from: 1st June 2026
• Final result: 26th June 2026
• Last Date for payment of Commitment Money: 7th July 2026
• Date of Joining First Batch: 21st July 2026  

Note: IGRUA has a tie-up with FSTC for Type Training on (A320/B737/ATR-72/Q-400) at their Gurugram or Hyderabad centres. If you wish to undergo this training, then it is mandatory to indicate the same at the time of filling up the form for the IGRUA entrance exam.
