Department of Biotechnology Govt. of India DBT - Research Associateship in Biotechnology and Life Sciences

The Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, invites applications from Ph.D.-qualified candidates for the award of DBT-Research Associateship to pursue research in the fields of Biotechnology and Life Sciences. You should have a strong motivation to pursue competitive research leading to novel discoveries and/or translation including generation of patents and/or societal outcomes. The last date to submit online applications is 12th May 2026.

DBT - Research Associateship Tenure

This is a full-time assignment on a temporary basis for two years. It may be renewed based on a review of progress of your research and there is a possibility of an extension up to four years, depending upon the progress of research.

DBT - Research Associateship Eligibility Requirements

1. Age Limit: The upper age limit is 40 years for male candidates and 45 years in the case of female candidates as on the last date of application. 

2. Academic Qualification: You should have a good academic record with a Ph.D. degree in Science, Engineering or M.D./ M.S. degree in any area of medicine with research interests in Biotechnology and Life Sciences and a good academic record. In case you have submitted the Ph.D./M.D./M.S. thesis, you are eligible to apply, but, on selection will be offered a lower fellowship amount till you qualify the eligible degree. 

3. Employment: You can apply if you are employed at the time of application, but will be required to  relinquish your employment for accepting the fellowship.
